all hallows eve

besides the obvious – dressing up as anything under the sun you want to for a day and collecting mass amounts of candy – there really is an ancient reason as to why we celebrate HALLOWEEN

the ‘holiday’ comes from an old Celtic celebration called ALL HALLOWS EVE (aka All Saints Day). we call it “HALLOWEEN” because “HALLOW” means ‘saints‘ and EEN means ‘evening

we dress up in honor of the Celtics, who would wear masks to scare away evil spirits and prevent demons from identifying them as humans

the whole ‘collecting the candy’ part – aka Trick-or-Treating – comes from how the spirits would visit Celtics’ homes disguised as people in hopes of claiming a new soul (TRICK) and the feast they would hold afterwards (TREAT)

Have a fun time trick-or-treating and celebrating tonight!
