happy Pi day!

3.1415926535… continuing over 1 trillion digits past the decimal and never repeating

yea, i said it :0) what can i tell ya, im a dorkface. but really… the area of a circle and the volume of a cylinder rely heavily on this neat little character, its gotta deserve at least one day of recognition, doesn’t it?!

if you forgot everything you learned in highschool, like i did, and need a refresher on this funky little thing, here goes:

Pi represents the relationship between a circle’s diameter (width) and its circumference (distance around the circle)

the area of a circle is calculated by using Pi and the radius of a circle
the volume of a cylinder is calculated by multiplying the area of the base (the area of the circle), then multiply that by the height of the cylinder

ps – 3.14 backwards looks like ‘PIE’!!
