>share the love

>

i was doing some perusing on the world wide web trying to figure out when and why valentine’s day got started… i know i must have learned this in elementary school at some point, but i also learned lots of other things that kinda, sorta, floated out of my head through the years…
i think, if the info from the numerous sources i found is correct, Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine’s Day around 498 A.D.- whoa that is oh-el-dee OLD!

now, as for the first valentine’s day card, the oldest known one is on display at the British Museum, dating back to the Middle Ages. the first commercial v-day greeting cards produced in the US were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland… front-running the classic lace, ribbons and colorful pics.

so in appreciation of v-day, join me in sharing the love by sending a free e-card to your virtual valentine right from freekibble’s website. for every e-card that is sent today, an entire bowl of kibble is donated to shelter dogs and cats… another reason freekibble kicks some mayja buttocks :0)

we wouldnt have the adorable Budman today if it werent for the shelters and rescue groups helping strays, abused and neglected animals who need love and homes too. give em a hand – it only takes a minute, and look at how cute they are:
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
